So. I was gone longer than I expected. Mostly illness and injury. The severe gout which came on at my Father’s funeral last July has recurred countless times since then. I’ve been working with a Rheumatologist since around the beginning of the year to try and tame it — not quite successful, although I’ve been able to go for a few short walk/runs to try and get back into the habit. As I write this, I’m some 36,000 feet over Kansas, heading into Colorado. I’m on my way to San Francisco, a waypoint on my voyage to Sydney. While there, I’ll be presenting at my employer’s security conference on a variety of topics, as well as meeting with clients. After a week – mostly work, although I’ve managed to coordinate my schedule so I can spend the weekend in Sydney – I’ll head to Mumbai, via a very brief stop in Singapore. Once there, I’ll do it all again, then continue on to Newark, then back home. A trip around the …
And it’s over, another year in the books. I finished the 46th annual Credit Union Cherry Blossom Race in 1:50:35. That’s a little bit over a minute faster than my first run of the race, in 2016, and quite a bit slower than last year’s pace. Those of you who’ve been following along will know that I didn’t achieve my goal — at least, not my pace goal. But I did finish, coming in 12,557th out of a field of 16,659. Among men, I was 5,776th out of 6,791. And in my Division (M55-59), I was 331st out of 400. …
